Lead Cloud Engineer (TypeScript/AWS)<br>Remote (must be UK based)<br>No sponsorship available<br><br><br>Futureheads are partnered exclusively with an established eCommerce client within the sports industry, who are looking for a skilled Lead Cloud Engineer to drive the evolution of their platform, building scalable cloud-native applications in Typescript.<br><br><br>This is a strategic and hands on role, where you will have the opportunity to lead on architectural decisions, define and enforce best practices, and own testing strategy across an event-driven, serverless-first platform.<br><br><br>Key Responsibilities:<br><br><ul><li>Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of high-quality, event-driven cloud services using AWS and TypeScript.</li><li>Collaborate closely with DevOps, Frontend, and Backend teams to align on architecture, service design, and developer workflows.</li><li>Support and lead platform-wide initiatives to for security, observability, testing and reliability.</li><li>Guide and own architectural decisions across services and systems.</li><li>Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.</li><li>Partner with stakeholders to streamline developer experience — including onboarding, tooling, and documentation.</li></ul>Experience we are interested in:<br><br><ul><li>Building distributed systems and cloud-native applications in Typescript</li><li>Deep understanding of AWS services, especially serverless and event driven components (e.g. Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, DynamoDB)</li><li>Designing and maintaining production grade services and infrastructure.</li><li>Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferably)</li><li>Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.)</li><li>Understanding of cloud-native testing strategies and quality automation</li><li>Have led engineering initiatives that improve reliability, scalability, and delivery velocity</li><li>Excellent communication skills</li></ul><br /><br /><em><em>We encourage applicants from all backgrounds, so if there is anything we can do to make our recruitment processes better for you and to allow you to show your best self, let us know.
