<strong>Contract Unreal Developer / Engineer (Real Time Interaction)</strong><br><br><strong>Initial 8-Week Contract (Outside IR35) | UK-Based Only | Immediate Start</strong><br><br>We’re on the lookout for an experienced <strong>Unreal Developer</strong> to join a cutting-edge interactive tech project on an initial <strong>8</strong><strong>-week contract</strong>. This role is <strong>fully remote</strong> but you <strong>must be based in the UK</strong>.<br><br>This opportunity involves building <strong>middleware systems</strong> that connect Unreal Engine to external components, with a focus on <strong>architecture, abstraction, and modularity</strong>. You’ll be contributing to the development of decoupled, scalable, and robust systems with a focus on real-time interaction and data-driven configuration.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong><br><ul><li>Design and implement <strong>middleware architecture</strong> within Unreal Engine</li><li>Integrate communication protocols such as <strong>WebSocket</strong> and <strong>HTTP</strong></li><li>Route logs, health data, and analytics to external systems</li><li>Build <strong>Unreal-side logic</strong> that simulates hardware inputs and operates independently</li><li>Work with <strong>Docker</strong>, CLI tools, and scripting for build and deployment workflows</li><li>Support CI processes (optional, but a bonus)</li></ul><br><br><strong>Secondary/Optional Scope (Time Permitting):</strong><br><ul><li>Use of <strong>Unreal Blueprint and/or C++</strong> to implement flexible logic</li><li>Design modular logic systems for <strong>multiple activation modes</strong>, including takeovers</li><li>Integrate <strong>real-time interaction inputs</strong>: touch, motion, proximity sensors (e.g., Intellisense)</li><li>Consume and respond to <strong>external structured data</strong> (e.g., JSON) for localisation and configuration</li></ul><br><br><strong>Requirements:</strong><br><ul><li>Strong Unreal Engine experience (Blueprint and/or C++)</li><li>Proven experience with <strong>middleware systems and comms protocols</strong></li><li>Comfortable with <strong>decoupling logic</strong> from hardware environments</li><li>Familiarity with Docker and scripting tools</li><li>Public installations / real-time interaction experience is a plus</li></ul><br><br>If you're a hands-on Unreal Engineer ready to build smart, scalable systems in a creative and tech-forward setting, we’d love to hear from you.<br /><br /><em><em>We encourage applicants from all backgrounds, so if there is anything we can do to make our recruitment processes better for you and to allow you to show your best self, let us know.
