UX Designer – Berkshire – Retail
- Contract type:Permanent
- Salary/Rate:£42,000 to £72,500
- Start Date:ASAP
- Location:Berkshire, GB
At a time of uncertainty and change for the UKs retail industry, an exciting and ever-changing British Heritage business and brand with a renowned UX division are looking to add 2 new hires to their team. They view this uncertainty as opportunity and reason for excitement. By utilising their long-standing retail-business partnerships, they can take advantages of opportunities to disrupt that other businesses simply do not have the resources to capitalise on.
Through their ‘new ventures’ program, they have been able to create a robust digital strategy which will consider opportunities for a holistic customer experience across online, instore and public propositions. In this sense, they’re looking for UX Designers with the capability of Service Designers and therefore should represent an attractive proposition for anyone considering a transition into Service Design.
They’ve several workstreams, focussing on their website, native apps (iOS + Android), instore and doorstep (delivery) experiences. UXers are separated by these streams and will likely cover all streams throughout their time with the business.
For them, digital starts with User Centric Design, before going through interaction design and finally into build and engineering. Additionally, they’ve separate UX and UI teams and are absolutely NOT looking for hybrids – therefore a traditional UX designer should feel assured of the fact that this is a role with real focus and purpose.
They’re looking for holistic UX Designers, confident and capable in their day-to-day practice who can work well within their agile teams. The expectation is to encapsulate their brand values and contribute new ideas to the fold – ideas which you will genuinely have the opportunity to see realised and deployed.
- Your CV and portfolio should evidence some work with big national/global brands (this experience can be either in-house or agency side)
- You will ideally be comfortable designing in Axure
- Your portfolio will evidence a solid, end-to-end process across multiple commercial projects. This should include the full remit for UX; across research, design and testing.
- You will be experienced in working collaboratively as part of an agile scrum team
- You should also possess a deep interest in designing to W3 accessibility standards
Working with these guys will give you the opportunity to add real flavour to your portfolio due to the sheer diversity of their work. Additionally, if you’d like exposure to thinking in terms of W3 accessibility then this is worth a conversation.
Furthermore, everyone works from home at least 1 day a week as standard. Further still, if someone were based in London then they can work there 1 day a week and therefore reducing time spent at their HQ in Berkshire – so this really is worth a chat even if you’re uncertain about the location.
