Senior Strategic Designer
- Contract type:Permanent
- Salary/Rate:£55k - £70k
- Location:London, GB
I’m working with an innovation consultancy who are looking for smart Senior Strategic Designers to join their growing team. The consultancy concept, create and incubate innovative new ventures for large corporate organisations, helping them disrupt in their own field and move in to other markets. Their products and services will often have a global reach and have high levels of complexity to them.
The service the consultancy provide is they will work in a way that large corporate organisations simply cannot to help them innovate. They apply lean methodologies and a start-up mindset to ideas and business concepts. They will get in right at the start, doing early stage field research, understanding commercial goals, looking at the feasibility of a product or service, analysing it, then move in to synthesising. This is always being informed by great qualitative research that is corroborated by data driven quantitative insight. The next phase is incubation, understanding if a project could be worth further investment, working on scalability and then bringing in a wider digital team that is more delivery focused involving UXers, visual designers, product managers and developers. They’re also not just fulfilling the digital requirements – they will create a physical space and build out the non-digital focused team that is essential for a business to survive.
What a Strategic Designers is to the consultancy is someone who will be involved from the very earliest stages. A designer who has fantastic formative research skills, can get out into the field, conduct ethnographic research and contextual studies, and combined with an understanding of data turn all of that into usable insight. You will need to run workshops and work collaboratively. It’s also important that your visual communication is as strong as your verbal and written communication.
This isn’t a UX or a UI Designer position, but you will be communicating complex ideas and strategies that need to be understood and this will be often done through infographics, customer journey maps and service design blueprints. The consultancy maintains high standards around this. You will also need to be able to constantly have one eye on initially the feasibility of products and services as well as the scalability and what need to happen around the product or service to make it happen.
They are a smart bunch, and you will be supported well by the Lead Strategic Designers in place. You’ll also work closely with Experience Designers who have the ability to think strategically so it’s a great environment to work and grow.
The ideal candidate will have the following capabilities
A strong formative research toolkit
Experience of conducting ethnographic research and facilitating workshops
An excellent communicator
A keen eye for design, skilled enough to produce clean crisp infographics, customer journey maps and service design blueprints
A good portfolio demonstrating all of the above
This is a great opportunity to work at a consultancy that truly fulfill the mantle of innovation! If this sounds of interest to you please get in touch ASAP at email@example.com !
