Director of Cloud Infrastructure

Our client is a FTSE 100 business who are changing their approach to technology and the digital world. They are at the early stages of a company-wide digital transformation, making this is an exciting time for the business as they look to capitalise on their market leading position to disrupt the market they operate in.

Due to this drive, they are looking to hire a high calibre Cloud Infrastructure Director to help build a new, global platform to support cloud hosting for the Group. Managing a team of 5, you will play a pivotal role in this build as they move across to Azure and Google Cloud Platform.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building the vision and an amazing cloud platform engineering organization to support cloud hosting, focusing on SRE, CALMS and DevOps concepts
  • Provide the technical vision and strategy for Azure and GCP adoption throughout and design and lead multi-year technical roadmaps
  • Develop a vision and long-term goals for how your teams will serve internal customers, plan the strategy for achieving those goals, and oversee its implementation
  • Building and grow highly skilled, cross-functional engineering team
  • Building long-term relationships at all levels with your (internal) customers
  • Ensuring integration of your team with other teams across Tech
  • Having a willingness to ‘roll up your sleeves’ and partake in more ‘hands-on’ aspects of the build

The ideal candidate will be/have:

  • Likely to come from an Architect background who has led, managed and developed teams previously
  • Proven experience building relationships with senior stakeholders, understanding their specific needs and applying this appropriately
  • A technical leader with a deep knowledge of end-to-end cloud platforms, ideally built using Azure and GCP
  • A proven background of delivering large, cloud hosting based solutions, understanding best practices
  • Ideally with experience working in a range of companies from large complex organisations to start ups and scale ups
  • Strong understanding of DevOps concepts
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to influence, present and lead teams
