Futureheads are working with a leading national newspaper, helping them to build out their talented digital team as they explore new ways to provide better experiences and services for their readership.
The client are undergoing a period of serious investment in their digital offering as they adapt to the natural changes to their industry. As such, they are now working on innovative new products and this is a great opportunity to be involved from early conception stages through to delivery.
Their well-balanced digital team is headed up by a Creative Director overseeing three Lead UX’s and three Lead UI’s. This symmetry will also be mirrored in your role; you will be working closely with your UI counterpart, while also receiving considerable stewardship from the Leads. The UX team is supported by an extensive research department, with specialists for analytics, quantitative and qualitative research. Their dev teams are also based in their refurbished office in Central London.
Their working style is characterised by a real emphasis on Lean collaboration between all teams. They are looking for inquisitive and proactive UX’ers who will get up, investigate and talk directly with cross-department colleagues about ideas, problems and solutions. No one works in a silo and this Lean, collaborative approach is helping them to work in Agile and successfully implement Smart Working. They also take a mature approach to work with everyone working from home at least one day a week project depending.
UX Designer – Native Apps
The native app team work on continuously improving their traditional news products, as well as developing innovative new ideas from scratch. So too they think strategically to identify opportunity areas and consider how they can capitalise on these. You will be required to help take these products from proposition through to launch, also addressing the challenges around how these products integrate with web.
UX Designer – Travel and Finance

The financial team are looking to apply existing successful models in the industry to their own products, mixed with their own identifiable brand.
Having previously functioned as a thoroughfare affiliate, the client is now looking to function as end destination full service providers for their loyal customer base. They are looking for a talented UX Designer who can bring energy and fresh ideas to this new approach and help shape their vision. As well as thinking conceptually, you will also need to apply your end-to-end UX toolkit as these ideas take form.
UX Designer – Subscription
The third role is with the subscription team are who are at the forefront of futureproofing the client’s services, exploring avenues such as voice activation and talk user interfaces, pushing the limits of their digital capabilities. As such, this role is quite strategic and conceptual, but certainly grounded in achievable reality.

  • Experience of working on products
  • Confidence in your own ideas and processes
  • Experience and evidence of complex IA construction
  • Usability testing experience
  • Skilled UI capabilities
  • A clean, crisp and detailed portfolio
