Lead UX Designer
- Contract type
- West London
- Start date
I have partnered with an innovative RegTech start-up whose AI-driven products help to reduce financial crime including fraud, corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing. The business launched just four years ago and their cutting edge, web-based applications are already being used to great effect by a host of Tier 1 and 2 investment firms, challenger banks and money transfer companies.
Having tripled their revenue each year since their launch in 2014, the business is now moving into international markets. To achieve this, they are significantly scaling their team and crucially, they are looking to secure the services of a Lead UX Designer with strong visual design skills.
This will be their first permanent UX hire and is therefore a hugely important role. You will initially work as the sole designer and have the freedom to make sweeping changes to the look, feel and usability of their products. But looking towards the next 6-12 months, you will also be responsible for establishing UX standards and processes, helping to establish User Research as a stand-alone function and ultimately build-out and lead a recognised UX and Design team.
Accordingly, this is a great opportunity for somebody who is looking to advance their career, whilst having a sizeable impact on a growing business. You will be starting as a Lead UX Designer, but as the team and wider business continues to scale, you will have the opportunity to establish yourself as their Head of Design/UX.
Looking at the short-term, there’s a lot to sink your teeth into. As Lead UX Designer, you will collaborate with Product Managers and their agile development team and be responsible for translating business challenges and requirements into concepts of design and UX. You will produce and deliver wireframes, visual mock ups and user flows that effectively communicate and validate design vision and user interaction. Furthermore, you will take ownership of User Research, procure and synthesis customer insights and perform user tests to inform design decisions.
- Extensive experience designing data intensive products.
- Proven ability to produce wireframes, prototypes and high-quality user interfaces.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-starter who takes initiatives but knows the importance of teamwork.
- Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
- Strong desire to keep learning and exploring new design trends and tools.
- A polished portfolio demonstrating relevant work examples and your process/approach to UX.
Although the business works closely with corporate FS clients, they still have a relaxed start-up culture and a casual office environment. They treat their employees like grown-ups and try to support them with flexible working options. It’s also worth noting that this role comes with a competitive salary, benefits and a highly generous share option scheme.
