A leading retail brand is looking for a Product Owner to be part of an IT transformation programme focused on decommissioning legacy solutions and replacing with leading edge technologies. This is a permanent role, based in Uxbridge, offering a salary up to £75,000 + benefits.

The retailer is embarking on a three year long programme to transform the way its technology teams work. They want to be forward thinking and strategic in the delivery of IT projects, which until now has been limited to the .com teams. They will be championing the adoption of Agile practises.

They are looking to open 300+ more food stores across the UK in the next few years and need a robust supply chain, order management and logistic platform that can support the growth. You will be actively involved in the decommissioning of 50+ applications and systems, and the delivery and development of an innovative algorithm platform that will improve forecasting, supply ordering and replenishment. As the Product Owner, you will be joining at the discovery stage of the programme and be involved with planning, delivery and launch of the product as well as iterating based on user feedback and data analytics.

Your product development team, will be made up of a squad of around 10 people and is part of a wider programme of work consisting of around 36 people in total. As the business is changing, you will work with senior stakeholders and teams to help the adoption of agile practises and support the move away from a heavy governance environment.  In your role as Product Owner you will support a Senior Product Owner in breaking down the roadmap into sizeable pieces of work, as well as challenging the value each part of the roadmap will add to the business.

To be considered for the this role, you should be able to demonstrate the following experience, skills and behaviours:

  • Strong stakeholder management
  • Knowledge of supply chain and logistics management – either within a retailer or FMCG environment
  • Good communication skills – written and verbal
  • Be able to define an incremental MVP (minimum viable product) approach to solving complex problems.
  • Strong data and analytics
  • Experience of defining product strategy, roadmap and prioritise the backlog
  • Writing user stories and acceptance criteria
